Jérôme Le Royer de la Dauversière born in 1597 (†1659) at La Flèche, is to be considered as the founder of Montreal thanks to his action in 1640 for opening an institution to convert Native tribes to catholicism. Nowadays, the Charitable Nuns of Saint-Joseph are still to be found in France and in both Northern and Southern America.
